Assembling Carports
Assembling a carport is a relatively easy afternoon project. Generally it only takes a few hours and a set of tools. All carports are shipped with specific assembly instructions from the manufacturer, but there are basic instructions that apply to all types of carports. A quick overview of the steps needed to assemble a carport will help you know what to expect.
To Begin
First make sure the carport contains all necessary parts for assembly. A list of these parts should be included with the assembly instructions. If something is missing, follow the manufacturer's guidelines for obtaining the missing part(s). Once you've identified all the parts, gather any needed tools and organize the parts and the tools in the order they will be used. This will save a great deal of time during the assembly process.
Frame Assembly
Beginning with the center of the frame, connect all pipes together. Next connect the sides.
Cover Assembly
After assembling the frame, it's time to place the cover on top. Attach the straps to each of the four corners and continue with the side straps. The last step is to attach the straps from the front to the back, making sure all are securely fastened.
Leg Assembly
Insert all legs into the canopy frame beginning with the middle. Next insert the legs on one side of the frame, followed by the other side.
Anchoring
Securely anchoring a carport is vital to protect it from destructive winds. Screw-in anchors and ropes attached to each leg of the carport are a good way to secure it. Carport anchor kits are available for purchase online or from hardware stores. These kits are available for many surfaces, making it possible to place a carport almost anywhere.
